Director Iris Laufenberg on her plans for the Deutsches Theater Berlin
After 14 years, Ulrich Khuon’s directorship on the Deutsches Theater Berlin (DT) ends in June, whilst a girl takes over for the first time in the records of the residence: Iris Laufenberg, born in Cologne in 1966, is presently director in Graz. This Thursday she is imparting her software in Berlin. For an exceptional chat beforehand, we met the easygoing 57-year-old in Munich, where she was giving a lecture on management at the university. After studying applied theater studies in GieĂźen, Laufenberg worked as a dramaturge and was the inventive director of the Bonn Biennale. From 2003 to 2011 she directed the Berliner Theatertreffen. She then took over the appearing director at the Konzert Theater Bern and in 2015 the inventive directorship in Graz.
