Four originals and 4 committed books, legacy of ‘La Revista de Occidente’ in the Caja de las Letras

A general of eight guides, the primary 4 troubles of every publishing length –began in 1923, 1963, 1975 and 1980– and the works of four generations of thinkers –Javier Gomá, Diego S. Garrocho, Adela Cortina and Remedios Zafra –, devoted, every one, with the aid of its creator, are part of the legacy of ‘La Revista de Occidente inside the Caja de las Letras’ because this Wednesday, July 6.

Representing the one-of-a-kind instances of the ‘Revista de Occidente’, the original numbers one from 1923, 1936, 1975 (with a bigger format) and 1980 have entered field quantity 914.

In addition, and representing 4 generations of thinkers, the legacy so one can be opened in one hundred years and will be destined for the Heritage Library of the Instituto Cervantes, has included the works of 4 philosophers: Adela Cortina, Javier Gomá, Remedios Zafra and Diego S. Garrocho.

Thus, Gomá, attending the event, has decided on his paintings ‘Imitation and revel in’, National Essay Award (2004). In his determination, he highlighted, in relation to the mag, “admiration for a mind-blowing century, with the wish that it'll supply start to any other century.”

For his part, Garrocho has chosen his ebook ‘On nostalgia. Damnatio memoriae’ (2019), sharing a dedication that ended with a wish: ‘I hope an excellent world awaits whoever reads us then’.

The director of the José Ortega y Gasset – Gregorio Marañón Foundation, Lucía Sala Silvera, has deposited the legacy in the vault, that is completed with the works ‘Minimum Ethics’ (1986), by way of Adela Cortina; and ‘Fragile. Letters on tension and hope inside the new way of life’ (2021), with the aid of Remedios Zafra.

Adela Cortina’s textual content highlights Ortega y Gasset’s “preference for clarity” and the mag’s “cosmopolitan outlook”. Finally, Lucía Sala has shared the writing devoted through Remedios Zafra: “In instances of speedy phrases, these are sluggish for the magazine that looks after thinking. By naming itself the ‘West’, it guides and liberates, creates soil and creates cloud. For the future “.
